Búzios with open arms to the world

Búzios receives visitors from all over the world, but still maintains the feel of a small town. The architecture has the charm of the past, with buildings with a maximum of two floors. At the same time, it houses inns that offer luxury and elegance worthy of the best beach resorts in the world. Búzios perfectly combines the refined with the rustic, the traditional with the modern, the tourist infrastructure with local traditions. All without losing the city’s characteristic charm.

A little about the history

The city of Búzios, inhabited by the Tupinambás Indians until the 17th century, which was once focused on fishing, slave trading and the exploitation of brazilwood, is now absolutely focused on tourism. It’s a destination that welcomes all visitors and, most importantly, all budgets! Búzios fits every tourist’s pocket and taste. Find your favorite stretch of beach and enjoy wonderful days by the sea.

After a visit in the summer of 1964, the actress Brigitte Bardot was so enchanted by Búzios that she spread the word about her discovery around the world, turning the town into a seaside resort for those who saw it as a true paradise. The quiet fishing village gained a charming air, exquisite inns, designer stores and a delicious gastronomic center. Today, with 30,000 inhabitants, Búzios retains a certain glamor from the 1960s that made it one of the most popular beach destinations in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
You just have to go there to understand how Brigitte Bardot felt in the 60s. Búzios is a really easy place to fall in love with. An invitation to delightful days of happiness by the sea.

The beaches

There are more than twenty beaches in Búzios to enjoy during your trip. And believe me, they are very different from each other. There are open sea beaches, with waves suitable for surfing; others with a sea worthy of being called a little pool. There are long beaches, with a long stretch of white sand and virgin vegetation; others that are so small they go unnoticed by the eyes of the most hurried tourists. The fact is that one of them will certainly capture your heart. Enjoy all the beaches in Búzios when you’re there. Every step on the sand is worth it.

How about starting with the bustling Praia de Geribá and Praia da Ferradura? From there, you can experience the charms of João Fernandes and João Fernandinho or Praia da Azeda and Azedinha. If you’re a SUP enthusiast, Ferradurinha Beach is a great idea. It’s also worth a day on the quiet sands of Praia Brava, which is considered one of the best beaches in Brazil, where you can have a good drink in the elegant bars overlooking the sea.

The sunsets at Praia da Tartaruga and Praia da Armação are unmissable, as is a late afternoon in the bars of Porto da Barra, on Praia de Manguinhos. To get away from the hustle and bustle, explore the tiny Praia da Foca, the tranquil sea of Praia do Forno, the hidden Praia dos Amores or Praia do Canto. But if you really want to be a bit daring, take the trail to Praia Olho de Boi, where naturism reigns.

If time allows, you can also visit more distant beaches such as Tucuns (even a paragliding flight is worthwhile), Caravelas and José Gonçalves. Each one is special and unique.
